Trousers changed how I play. I spent years in skorts because that is what the shops pushed at women, and then one cold April morning I borrowed a pair of proper golf pants and never really went back. No sunscreen on the legs, no reapplying at the turn, no bare skin against a wet bench.

The catch is that most trousers sold as golf trousers are cut for standing still. What you want is a waistband that does not dig when you bend to mark a ball, and enough stretch through the hip to let the lower body turn. If a pair passes those two tests, everything else is styling. For the warmer half of the season the shorts edition covers the same ground with more skin on show, and if you are dressing for April or May specifically, start with the spring outfits.
