Full coverage on a golf course is not a compromise. I say that as someone who now plays in long sleeves and long trousers by choice, after one summer of reapplying sunscreen every three holes and still coming home burnt. Four hours of open sky is a lot of sun.

The problems that actually need solving are heat, movement and the headscarf staying put through a full swing. Light woven fabric rather than heavy jersey, a sleeve that is loose at the elbow, and a scarf fixed with an underscarf rather than pins near the neckline. Get those three right and everything below is just colour. For lighter weather the spring outfits use the same silhouettes in thinner fabric, and if you are dressing for a club competition the tournament edit is the stricter list.
