Men’s golf clothing looks like a solved problem and mostly is, which is precisely why so many men look slightly wrong on a course. The rules are simple enough that the mistakes are all in the details: trouser length, a collar that has given up, and shoes that belong in a gym.

What actually matters is fit through the shoulder, a hem that breaks once on the shoe, and a colour that is not competing with itself. Golf trousers should sit at the waist, not below it.
