What size is a standard paintball?
0.68 caliber, which is about 17 millimeters across. Smaller 0.50 caliber balls are used in some low impact and youth formats.
How fast may a paintball marker shoot?
Most fields cap velocity at around 280 feet per second and check every marker on a chronograph before play. Above that the impact energy rises quickly and the risk of injury with it.
What are paintballs made of?
A gelatin shell around a non-toxic, water soluble fill. The paint is meant to break on impact and to wash out of clothing.
